What was originally planned to be four short novellas over the course of two years has grown into much more. I wrote The Eyes of Greenwood on a whim, and slowly realized I had something I really and truly loved on my hands. I had planned to hit a May release each year when I saw how much of the story was going to need to be handled at longer lengths.

The Young King released on schedule, still within novella length, but the third book would prove much more challenging. This book wanted to be written, and it wanted to be written grandiose. Trying to stick around 25,000 words was impossible, as that became 30,000, then 35,000, then 43,000 words. At the end of the day, however, I finally stand on top of this beast, two months after my initial plan for release, finally free.

I give you The Ones Forgotten. Where Reyairan Spirits becomes the epic it has been building to since 2016. Finally so much of my plans for my characters are coming to fruition, and visions I had of the great battle for humanity in this kingdom are released into the world. And I stand now, exhausted and relieved, with one more book to write.

It has been a ride. This last book will tie together the series with a bow, though not a neat or pretty one. A functional bow, only loosely holding the monster inside. I may come back to Reyaira someday, long after Book Four is out, but until that day, I’m ready for one last hurrah with Jakko, Renmir, and the whole cast.
